How to Practice Christian Meditation: A Guide to Inner Peace
Throughout my spiritual journey, I have always felt a deep connection to the energy of Jesus Christ. During meditation, when I focus my mind on Him, I experience a calming and uplifting presence. It usually can alleviate any anger or unpleasant emotional state I am feeling.
Anyone can connect to the energy of Jesus and find healing and comfort in doing so—you don't have to consider yourself a Christian to benefit from this practice.

Christian Meditation: Finding Quiet with Christ
Meditation can sometimes feel unfamiliar to Christians. There might be concerns that it conflicts with prayer or that clearing one’s mind could somehow be disrespectful to God. However, Christian meditation is not about emptying your mind; it's about filling it with the peace and presence of Christ.
Here’s how to cultivate a practice that deepens your faith:
Walking with Jesus
One beautiful way to start is with a simple mantra: "I walk with Jesus." Find a quiet space, close your eyes, and take slow, deep breaths. With each inhale, silently repeat, "I walk." With each exhale, say, "with Jesus." As you do this, imagine yourself walking alongside Christ, feeling His calm and comforting presence beside you.
This mantra can be particularly helpful during stressful moments. When anxiety threatens to overwhelm you, repeat it silently, and bring your focus back to the peace of Jesus' presence. This practice can help center your mind and spirit, reminding you that you are never alone in your struggles.
Bible Passages as Mantras
The Bible is filled with verses offering comfort, strength, and hope. Using scripture as a focus during meditation can deepen your connection to God’s word and bring profound peace. Choose a passage that resonates with you, perhaps one that speaks to a current challenge or a desire you hold dear. Here are some examples:
For Peace: "Be still, and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
For Strength: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
For Hope: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
For those who want to dive deeper into a greater understanding of the bible, we recommend this companion bible by E.W. Bullinger. This is the bible Jordan Maxwell (Dec. 1940 - March 2022) suggested reading to get a fuller understanding of the symbolism used in the bible, as well as its spiritual significance. How to Meditate with Scripture
Choose a Quiet Space: Find a peaceful spot where you won’t be disturbed. This could be a corner of your home, a spot in your garden, or a quiet room at church.
Get Comfortable: Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight and your hands resting in your lap or on your knees.
Focus on Your Breathing: Take a few deep breaths to relax your body and mind. Breathe in slowly through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale gently through your mouth.
Introduce the Scripture: Silently or aloud, begin to repeat your chosen Bible passage. Let the words resonate within you, filling your mind and heart.
Reflect and Listen: After repeating the passage several times, sit quietly and reflect on its meaning. Listen for any insights or feelings that arise. Trust that God is speaking to you through His word.
Close in Prayer: End your meditation with a prayer, thanking God for His presence and asking Him to help you carry His peace into your daily life.
Benefits of Christian Meditation

Starting Your Christian Meditation Practice
Begin with just a few minutes each day and gradually increase the time as you become more comfortable. Consistency is key, so try to make it a regular part of your daily routine. Whether in the morning to start your day with peace, or in the evening to unwind, find a time that works best for you.
Remember, the goal of Christian meditation is not to achieve perfection but to draw closer to Christ and find His peace amidst the busyness of life. Embrace the journey, and let His presence transform your heart and mind.
By integrating these practices into your life, you can find a deeper connection with Christ and a greater sense of peace and purpose. I hope your journey into Christian meditation is as fulfilling for you as it has been for me!
